What we do

©OSZE

Peace operations are a key instrument of Germany’s foreign policy and multilateral engagement. On behalf of the German Federal Foreign Office, ZIF is responsible for Germany’s civilian contribution to peace operations. We train and second civilian personnel and ensure duty of care. We also support the development of international civilian capacities and provide research, analysis and policy advice on crisis prevention, peace operations and stabilisation issues.

Our services cater to the German Government and Parliament, and to multilateral organisations such as the UN, EU, AU and OSCE, as well as to other national and international partners with whom we coordinate closely.
